Quandary

I think the developers of this game did a good effort. These kind of things don’t seem easy to design and have them running on-line. I would use this game with kids from elementary school. Teenagers are so weird these days and I think they might find the game boring or “uncool”. It’s a shame that the computers from the multimedia lab don’t have speakers. I tried it at home for a little bit and it was nice.

I remember when I was a kid I really liked some books in which you had to take decisions and those decisions had different consequences in the story. This game reminded me to those books. I don’t see any specific grammar point that could be taught with this tool, but it could work as a warm-up or a wrap-up activity. It’s also important to provide students with resources so they can be exposed to the language and receive in-put. The game is also good for students to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, which they will need in real life.

The video below offers an overview on the game, for the ones of you who don’t know what it is about…
